Build / Half Log Homes
Some Reasons people choose Half Log
- Love the natural quality and warmth of wood
- Want more flexibility in design. Half log construction allows for more interior wall finish options from room to room or wall to wall.
Each room can be a
combination of drywall, tile, stone, knotty pine, or log.

- Prefer a less natural approach to log home living. Some people want to enjoy the feel and warmth of a log home with out the concerns for checks in the logs or settling.
There is a misconception that half logs are the same as log siding. Make no mistake, they are different products and require different installation methods. Log siding is generally less than one inch thick at the roundest part and has a tongue for nailing, which is referred to as ‘ship lap’. A Half log is just as it seems, a ‘half’ of a log and therefore usually two inches thick or more at the roundest part. The top and bottom are flat, and they need to be fastened from row to row as well as to the wall.
