There is a misconception that half logs are the same as log siding. Make no mistake, they are different products and require different installation methods. Log siding is generally less than one inch thick at the roundest part and has a tongue for nailing, which is referred to as ‘ship lap’. A Half log is just as it seems, a ‘half’ of a log and therefore usually two inches thick or more at the roundest part. The top and bottom are flat, and they need to be fastened from row to row as well as to the wall. 

Custom Craft Carpentry, Inc. has the experience and knowledge to build a half log home that will withstand the test of time and weather.  We have the skills and craftsmanship to build a half log home so well most people think it is full log!  As for finishing the interior, we can do just about anything.  Once the home is ‘dried in’ or weather proof, we will do a walk through and mark the interior walls with your preferences.  Some walls will be half log or knotty pine, and some may be dry wall or tile, or any combination you like.  Each room can be a combination of drywall, tile, stone, knotty pine, planking, or logs.
